
Formation Courses. The content of these courses has been approved by the Dioceses of Arlington, Knoxville, Grand Rapids, and Peoria, and may be used towards their Catechist Certification Programs. Arrangements can be made for these same courses can be offered on site. Please contact the Catholic Education Center, LLC for more details. The Online Courses are designed for busy teachers and parish catechists! You can work on your course work at your convenience (they are not time-released) from any computer with internet access. Each class has documents to read, a quiz and a discussion forum to share your ideas with other teachers!

Christendom Graduate School now offers Online Courses for Graduate-level Academic Education Credits. These courses may be used to obtain or renew a VA or VCEA teaching license, towards Arlington Diocese Catechist Certification, and may also be applied towards the Masters of Arts in Theological Studies Degree offered through the Christendom Graduate School. If you have taken the "component courses", you may "upgrade" your courses for Academic Credit through Christendom Graduate School by satisfying their registration requirements, paying the difference in tuition, and completing the academic requirements. Courses Now Available through Christendom Graduate School (for academic credit): EDUC630: Teaching the Faith: Part 1 (3 credits) (CAT101, CAT102, CAT103 + Academic Requirements) An introduction to Catholic Religious Education, including an examination of the ministry of catechetics, an overview of key Old and New Testament figures and events, and a thorough study of the Creed and the seven Sacraments, based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church (parts 1 and 2), with practical and creative ways to implement these teachings in a classroom. EDUC631: Teaching the Faith: Part 2 (3 credits) (CAT104, CAT105, CAT201 + Academic Requirements) A continuation of EDUC 630 focusing on the moral life (commandments, virtues and beatitudes) and the life of prayer (with explanation of several prayers and devotions throughout the liturgical year) and how to teach them. The course covers Parts 3 & 4 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and concludes with the role of catechesis in the mission of the Church as seen in the General Directory of Catechesis.
(CAT202, CAT203, CAT204 + Academic Requirements) EDUC 602 is a study of the teaching Church and the historical process of its development, including St. Augustine and Classical Catechesis, Christendom and St. Thomas Aquinas, the Catholic Reformation and the Roman Catechism, the Enlightenment, Vatican I, Modernism, Vatican II, the renewed Catechumenate and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Catechist Formation Courses taken with the Catholic Education Center, LLC may be applied towards Academic Courses. Christendom College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033- 4097: Telephone number 404-679-4501) to award the Associate of Arts and Bachelor of Arts degrees, and the Master of Arts degree in Theological Studies.
